This devilish little character is a modern version of an O-mamori, a type of amulet typically dedicated to a particular Shinto deity. A good O-mamori should bring its owner luck or protect them against a variety of common dangers, like car accidents, lightning or bear attack. This particular O-mamori, dubbed “Wonderfulman” will protect the owner’s keys, which are often in danger of being lost when intoxicated. Although his comical bobble-head and little outfit are quite charming, I find his beard to be fiendish, and his gaze to have a certain delinquent quality that I can’t quite trust. On second thought, I don’t think giving him free reign in your pocket is a good idea, he’ll probably drunk-dial your ex-girlfriend or prank call 911. A whole series of wonderful men, each with their own distinct features can be found at The Wonderful Design Works!
